Welcome!

This summary plan description (SPD) highlights the provisions of the Carpenters' Pension Plan for Shops and Mills employees. If additional information about the Plan is needed, contact the Pension Office. Effective May 1, 1995, the former Shops and Mills Pension Plan was merged into the Pension Plan of Carpenters' Pension Trust Fund of St. Louis. Although the two Plans have been combined, the terms of each Plan remain basically the same as before the merger, with the exception that service under both Plans counts for eligibility and vesting.

For simplicity, references in this SPD to the "Plan,” include only the provisions related to Shops and Mills employees, which are contained in Appendix A to the Carpenters’ Pension Plan Document. If you have any service covered by the Carpenters’ Plan provisions (those not included in Appendix A), please refer to the separate SPD for the Carpenters’ Plan.

Appendix A of the Plan Document governs the payment of all benefits under the Plan. In the event of any conflict, the Plan Document has precedence over this SPD. For your convenience, section references from Appendix A of the Plan Document are provided in this SPD. Specific Plan Document references are identified by bracketed text (e.g., [Section 2.1]).

This SPD generally describes the Plan in effect as of May 1, 2019. If you stopped working in Covered Employment before that date, some of the features of the Plan described in this SPD may not apply to you.
